Blood Finding Experience

My father went thru bypass surgery recently. 
Doctor said during the surgery they may need A+ (A positive) blood for 4 units (each unit from one person). 
I didn't worry , because in my family we are two O+ (O Positives). O positive is an universal blood donor. O+ person can give blood to A+, AB+ B+ and O+. so 2,3 persons from my family and one, two units we can buy from the blood bank. 
We have neglected this topic. Surgery date left for 4 days. 

 

Everyday doctors asking about blood donors are ready or not. 
I have explained my obove plan, as 2,3 persons from our family (all O positives) and rest we will buy from the blood back. Doctor rejected this plan. Bypass surgery is a major and critical surgery. To avoid complications,  
They need Fresh blood (blood has to be taken from the person before the surgery not more than 2 days). 
They want A+(Positive) blood only but not O+, even it is compatible. 

Then my struggle started. 

 

I realized that it is impossible for me to find A+ blood in 2 days. I called all of my friends about 20 people, most of them are not A+. few have A+ but they have to travel 400, 500 KMs to come the hospital. 

I thought to circulate it in FB but no hopes that I will get 4 people in 2 days. 

Luckily I searched in the Google, it gave me a wonderful website. Thanks to Google.

We can find blood donors who already registered in this website. 
It has filters like Blood Group, country, State, district and city. 
using those filters I got a list about 50 blood donating volunteers (along with their phone numbers) who are located in vijayawada.(it is not a metropolitan city but it is a town). 
Surprised that I found 50 (A+) people are from vijayawada. I called up around 40 phone numbers. 
Few phone numbers are not working. 
Few people said they are out of station.
Few people said they have given blood recently. 
Few people said they were sick. 
Few people said they shouldn't give blood due to religious reasons for few days. 
finally I found 4 donors within 2 days.
